Indian Tribe to Host Summit Helping Native Americans Cope Posted: 7:37 AM Aug 6, 2009 Last Updated: 7:51 AM Aug 6, 2009 Reporter: WSAW Staff The Menominee Indian tribe will host a summit designed to help Native Americans cope with the trauma of their tribes' histories. The main speaker will be Dr. Ann Bullock, a Minnesota Chippewa. The doctor says Native Americans sometimes struggle to come to terms with what happened in their tribes' past. That is often why issues like alcoholism and substance abuse remain common. Bullock says the problems sometimes stem from genocide the tribe suffered in earlier generations. The summit will be Tuesday at the Menominee Tribal School in Neopit. www.wsaw.com/morningshow/headlines/52577542.html
