The annual Native American Festival and Basketmakers Market is being held at the Abbe Museum on the College of the Atlantic's campus from 10 to 4 on Saturday. People will be able to see Native American art from Maine and the Maritime, including basketry, carving, beadwork, dancing and singing. Organizers say the event is great for families, especially families with children. "This is what we like to call, we call it the premier indian market of the east coast and especially of New England," said Jason Brown, the public affairs manager for the museum. "It is, items will be for sale. It's free and open to the public. But it's a chance for native american artists to demonstrate and show and sell their craft, their art."
