Pupils swap their classrooms for a tepee in Native American day Published Date: 09 July 2009 By Steve Mills YOUNGSTERS at an infant school in Daventry have been learning about native Americans. All of the pupils at Falconer’s Hill Infant School took part in the day on Wednesday last week, which was called Native American Smart Day. Children learned about the culture of native Americans and created designs which were then carved onto a totem pole. They also took part in traditional games played by native America children and pupils also dressed up for the occasion. Headteacher Coleen Wilkins said: “It was about giving the pupils something that was fun to do. All of them had a wonderful day.” The school also held an American-themed summer fair on Saturday which saw people panning for gold and wild west-style activities.
