Part of Discovery Center summer speakers' series STRATHAM — On Wednesday, July 22, Great Bay Discovery Center is presenting Dr. Robert Goodby in a program on Native American History in New Hampshire. The program is free and begins at 7 p.m., in the Hugh Gregg Coastal Conservation Center, Discovery Center at 89 Depot Road in Greenland. Goodby has spent more than two decades studying and working on Native American archaeological sites in New England. He is a graduate of Brown University and is on staff at Franklin Pierce University where he directs the Monadnock Archaeological Project, a long-term study of Native American sites and history in the Monadnock region. Goodby will include history of the tribes around the Great Bay Estuary to coincide with the archaeological dig at Bickford Garrison in Durham. Goodby is a N.H. Humanities Council speaker and has done workshops for educators and the public in the state. The Great Bay Discovery Center is celebrating its 20th anniversary as being named a National Estuarine Research Reserve. The center is funded by NOAA and administered by the state Department of Fish and Game.
