PORTLAND — The sixth annual National Center for Great Lakes Native American Culture Gathering of Great Lakes Nations Pow Wow is set Saturday and Sunday at the Tri-State Antique Gas Engine and Tractor Grounds, 1010 Morton St. The pow wow, a celebration of the Great Lakes Native peoples and their culture, will be 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. The event will feature Native American drums, singers and dancers, 20 vendors from nine states, a pre-1840 living history camp, and demonstration contests for tomahawk and the atlatl. Children can learn about Native Americans as they make clay pinch pots, beaded necklaces and listen to stories. Admission is $4 for adults, free for kids 12 and under, with a $15 maximum for families. People are also asked to bring a non-perishable food donation for the Helping Hands Food Pantry.
