Greetings,
My name is Robert George and I am a Maori Student doing a Bachelor of Social Sciences here in Hamilton NZ.
I am looking for someone who would be willing to exchange or share there views about what colonization means to them and the effects this has on them as a people or nation. this would be conducted over a four week period and how this would be achieved would be entirely up to that individual.
As a requirement of my studies under the elective Indigenous Liberation Studies I am only required to ask 4 questions other than the usual ones I need to ask to establish the relationship.
Maori have progressed through the period of using specific aspects of our culture as a means of change. While we realize that there are a lot of other indigenous peoples struggling with colonization it is heartening to know that we are not alone.
What we want to know is how other people are managing, what approaches they are using to combat this and the piece of legislation(s) or laws that they find are oppressive and what is their vision for their people.
I am only too willing to send copies of any current work or assignments to assist in the understanding of my purpose and hopefully this exchange has a positive effect for that individual too.
We have had indigenous people in to talk about their struggles from first Nation people of Canada and Kanaka Maoli from Hawaii so it is good to have another perspective from another people.
Let us be one in our struggles
Regards Ropata (Maori for Robert)
